Reform begins at home
The South Korean non-governmental organisation Citizen's Coalition for Economic Justice (ccej), recently launched the Green Family campaign. The campaign specifically aims at the reduction of domestic waste and the conservation of water and energy. Attempts are also being made to simultaneously change people's behavioural patterns and values through environmental education. The campaign aims at proving that changing consumption patterns can fundamentally alter the production of wastes. It also seeks to give the fact that consumers are a key group in solving environmental problems, more recognition. The response to the campaign has been good. Currently, 180 families in nine regions of the country are participating in the campaign, with more joining it everyday.
