Farmers in Vietnam and thePhilippines are literallybeingtaught a lesson. Eager to incrcrop yields, they were liberal iausing pesticides to contain leaf dar4age, which has never affected cropyield in the first place. Some 9qfarmers were recently intervieweeby researchers at the InternationqRice Research Institute and tbjVisayas State College of Agricuin the Philippines, and the ministryof agriculture in Vietnam , to cGn_qpam the insecticide use patterns. Itwas found that high proportionsthe sprays were targeted at lea 19feeding insects.
