India touched the big milestone of administering one billion doses of vaccines against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on October 21, 2021, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The inoculation record, accomplished in about 10 months since the vaccination drive began in the country, was lauded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as United Nations agencies like the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
