Committee formed to assess Dharali disaster in Uttarakhand
Panel to carry out a detailed survey of losses to houses, land, farms and infrastructure in the affected region
After a devastating disaster struck Dharali in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on August 5, 2025, leaving a huge area buried under a staggering 40-50 feet of debris, a committee has been formed to look into the causes of this disaster.
It will carry out a detailed survey of losses to houses, land, farms, and infrastructure in the affected region, and a preliminary report will be submitted to the Uttarakhand government within a week. Further, this committee will also prepare a blueprint of a long-term and effective policy for safeguarding the future of Dharali village.
