
News reports suggest that a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan late on Friday night. The quake has struck Hindu Kush mountain region merely two months after a temblor caused massive destruction in Pakistan and Afghanistan, in October 2015.
Strong shocks were felt in Afghan capital Kabul at 11.14 pm local time and in Pakistani capital Islamabad, says a report by The Hindu. Tremors of the quake were felt in India as well where the quake could be felt for about 20 to 30 seconds.
Till now, no casualties have been reported.
The mountain range has been hit by many quakes this year. A massive 7.9 earthquake had led to devastation in the hill country of Nepal earlier this year.
Quake hits California on Christmas night
Meanwhile, a shallow quake of magnitude 3.0 was reported on Thursday evening near The Geysers, California, reports LA Times, quoting US Geological Survey.
