THE book provides a comprehensive introduction to the concept of globalisation and its challenge to contemporary study development. Theoretical issues and debates surrounding globalisation and the future of development studies primarily constitute the first part of the book. The second part reviews theory and policy implications by assessing the impact of globalisation on a number of key areas like environment, gender, human rights and urban development. An underlying theme is that whether a seeming transition from development studies is offering anything innovative and productive for our future understanding and study of development.
