Electronic waste kilns in Moradabad

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on October 30, 2019 ordered the district magistrate of Moradabad as well as the Uttar Pradesh State Pollution Control Board to submit a report on kilns processing electronic waste and operating in streets and open places from Moradabad to Lal Bagh near Rani Kishori, Uttar Pradesh.

The NGT was responding to a complaint by Lav Kr Gupta, who said the activities were a health hazard to the inhabitants.

Pollution from waste rugs

The NGT on October 30 diirected the deputy commissioner of Panipat and the Haryana Pollution Control Board to look into spinning mills illegally manufacturing yarns from waste rugs imported from overseas and causing the pollution of waterbodies due to the dye and bleach used in the process.

Rajpura hydro project

The NGT on October 30 directed the deputy commissioner of Shimla and the Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board to look into the violation of environmental norms in the construction of the Rajpura Hydro Power Project on the Nogli Khad river in Shimla district's Rampur.

The NGT responded after it was alleged that the dumping of waste as well as encroachment were taking place in the construction process.

Emission of gases from drain

The NGT on October 30 directed the East Delhi Municipal Corporation and Delhi Pollution Control Committee to look into the pollution being caused by an open drain flowing from Shahdara to Ghazipur, resulting in emission of gases.
