One of the country's best illustrators, Suddhasattwa Basu. has decided to use animation to promote social messages. His 16mm film Rakhee and Mausee is a story that aims to empower women. Basu tackles this dry subject in an entertaining visual and narrative element. He and his team are working on another 2-minute animation on the miracle of sight. It will use only form and colour and there will be no narration.
Another interesting animation that he is working on is about a girl who rescues a fledgling who has lost its nest in the storm. The girl cares for the little creature and then finally encourages it to fly to freedom.
