Controlling the Water, Matching Technology and Institutions in Irrigation Management in India and Nepal Edited by Dik Roth and Linden Vincent, OUP, Rs 995
Published on

Despite a long history and important role in development, irrigation in both India and Nepal faces crucial challenges. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, this volume shows the range of irrigation technologies developed in different agro-ecological zones: large-scale public canal systems, small-scale farmer-managed canal systems, ponds and tanks, and also groundwater-based systems. It also tries to synthesise conceptual frameworks that have been used to study the dynamics of water control.
