Changing climate and erratic weather events have forced agriculturists to revisit traditional rice varities that had once lost their popularity to high-yielding hybrid rice seeds

India had a diverse variety of indigenous rice seeds. However, when the government aggressively promoted high-yielding hybrid rice seeds, the usage of traditional counterparts declined. Changing climate and erratic weather events have now made our agriculturists reconsider switching back to traditional varieties as many have realised that indigenous seeds perform better. Apart from this, traditional seeds also free marginal farmers from buying expensive hybrid seeds
