Active monsoon conditions are likely to continue over many parts of northwest, central and eastern India for the next six to seven days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its daily bulletin on June 30, 2025.
Very heavy rain is forecast at isolated places in Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand today. Madhya Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Odisha are also set to receive heavy to very heavy rain on multiple days through the first week of July.
Delhi is likely to remain generally cloudy with light to moderate showers and thunderstorms between June 30 and July 3. Maximum temperatures could go below normal by up to 5-7 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rainfall may also lash the ghat areas of central Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, and Gujarat over the next seven days, with coastal Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh expected to receive downpours starting today. In the northeast, very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on July 2 and 3.
Strong winds with gusts between 40 and 90 kilometres per hour were recorded yesterday in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab, and are likely to continue across much of the south and east over the coming days.
Hot and humid weather is forecast to persist over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Rayalaseema till July 2.
The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into large parts of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal due to rough conditions until 5 July.
