Delhi thirsts for gas

The word ‘gas’ is on everybody’s lips as the West Asia crisis results in acute shortages

People in Delhi and the National Capital Region are facing acute shortages of cooking gas as the Israel-Iran War has caused the closure of key chokepoint, the Strait of Hormuz.

With the war in West Asia turning off the taps of global gas supplies, households, restaurants and several other consumers are facing acute shortages.

There are reports of long queues as people queue up to buy gas. Restaurants are also facing closures as the price of liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas skyrockets.

There promise to be tougher days ahead, with the war showing no signs of ending.
