Power Demand Tracker: On May 27, 2026, India’s peak stood at 258.5 GW during solar hours

Hydropower contributed 8 per cent to the source mix

On May 27, 2026, India’s peak power demand stood at 258.5 GW during solar hours at 3:30 pm. The peak demand during non-solar hours was 247.6 GW.

Total generation was 6085 MU [1 per cent lower than May 26].

The source-wise generation share is as follows:

Coal – 69 per cent

Gas – 2 per cent

Wind & Solar – 18 per cent

Hydropower – 8 per cent

Others including Nuclear – 3 per cent

*‘Others’ includes biomass and nuclear.
