Two physicists from France -Albert Manque and Jean XavierZweistein have claimed to have discovered the largest fundamentalparticle ever known. While experimenting with vacuum tubes, theyfound that the monitor on a nearbycomputer exploded when a largecurrent was sent through one of thetubes. The high electric field in theone of tubes might have altered theenergy state of the vacuum tube orthe monitor, the scientists believe, and the field 'was just right to nudgea new particle into being." The scientists, aptly, have named the particle Bigon(Discover, April 1996).
