Bihar Sand Mining Policy 2019
The National Green Tribunal on December 12, 2019 dismissed the application filed against the Bihar Sand Mining Policy 2019, especially the clauses 5 (i) and 5 (ii) and clause 6. It stated that the state had the power to “make policies, pass orders, issue administrative rules, circulars, instructions etc in exercise of its executive powers as long as they were not violative of the constitutional and statutory provisions.”
The application had stated that the state of Bihar had come out with the 2019 policy without any consultative process.
Giriraj Parvat
The NGT on December 11 admonished Uttar Pradesh for the tardy progress made on road construction, which, if done properly, would ease the problem of traffic congestion in and around Giriraj Parvat and Parikrama Marg in Mathura district.
Industrial pollution in Jodhpur
The NGT on December 11 directed the general manager of ISRO's Regional Remote Sensing Centre at Jodhpur to be present before it on January 15, 2020.
The order came in response to the report submitted by the Centre, which comprised of aerial photographs and other information about discharge by industries in Jodhpur on open land, nallahs and rivers.
Encroachments in green belts of Ghaziabad
The NGT on December 11 directed the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation to remove encroachments in green belts according to the recommendations of the Joint Inspection Team, and the observations made by the Court Commissioner, within a period of 30 days and submit a report.
