THE World Bank (WR) has admittedthat its assessment of the SardarSarovar Project did not adhere to manyof its own guidelines. In an internalmemo prepared by the OperationsEvaluations Division, it has describedits own approach to the project as"delinquent".
The WB's resettlement and rehabilitation guidelines, designed to ensureresettlement of project affected families, were not followed in total; norwere its own environmental guidelines.
The Project Completion Report ofthe WB has described the future of theproject and the "sustainability of theproject achievements" as "uncertain".The memo foresees delays by at least 2years in both the irrigation and energygeneration schedules.
