A recently discovered drug moleculecan force the body to burn off calories without too much exercise. Thismolecule called CP-331679, whichessentially mimics the action of ahormone called adrenaline, canboost the metabolism of rats byalmost a third, without increasingtheir appetite. Announcing this atthe American Chemical SocietyMeeting held at San Francisco,Robert Dow of the pharmaceuticalfirm Pfizer said that this drug doesnot seem to affect the cardiovascularsystem. This molecule is currentlybeing tested on humans (New Scientist, Vol 154, No 2079)
