With a US $30 million grant from theEuropean Commission (EC) announced recently, thePunjab and North West Frontier provinces in Pakistanare being targeted for environmental rehabilitation.Gaspard Dunkelsbuhler, head of the EC delegation inPakistan said the grant which be will given over a periodof seven years will be used for cleaning up the environment in these areas and also for incorporating practices of sustainable rural development. The project will be undertaken by the forestry department, the government of Punjab and the World Conservation Union.
