Industries,which were asked to shift out fromDelhi, have been directed by theSupreme Court to create greenpockets on the land they are goingto vacate. The companies will beallowed to retain a portion of theland vacated by them but the restwill be used for creating lungs forthe city. In a recent ruling, the apexcourt had asked 1,219 highly polluting industrial units to shift fromthe city. Four major industrialgroups, Birla Textiles, DCM SilkMills, Shriram Industrial Enterprises and Swatantra Bharat Millshave pleaded for more time to shiftand have guaranteed to retain theiremployees and to provide shiftingexpenses and houses for them.
