Men lose brain tissue as they ageat almost three times the ratewomen do; this could reduce theirmemory, concentration and reasoning power, says Ruben C Gur, aprofessor of psychology at theUniversity of Pennsylvania, US.His findings are based on a studyof the brain functions -measurement of volume and analysis ofmetabolic rates within the organ-in 24 women and 37 men overthe past decade. "The shrinkingsize of brains in men, perhaps, turns them into grumpy old men,"he opines. Some of the tissueloss, according to Gur, is in theleft frontal lobe of the brain, which is apparently connected todepression.
