Tourism stakeholders in Zambia's tourist capital of Livingstone, the departure point for the world famous Victoria Falls, are expressing concern over what they call "bureaucratic confusion" of the Zambia Tourist Board, the Environmental Council of Zambia, Zambia Wildlife Authority and the National Heritage Conservation Commission.
The fall is reeling under environmental problems, including the dumping of raw sewage into Zambezi river -- a source of adventure sports such as river boarding, whitewater rafting, and canoeing. A row of hotels and tourism overload has also harmed the city's environment.
Although no attention is paid to ecotourism, minister of finance and national planning Emmanuel Kasonde says that the Zambian government intends to make tourism the third economic giant alongside mining and agriculture.
