United States now has 400,549 cases that have tested positive to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), according to aggregator Worldometer. The country has recorded 12,857 deaths in ensuing diseases (COVID-19).
- Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, in a press conference, said several opposition parties discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- He hinted that the PM is yet to decide on whether to extend the lockdown or not. Several states and most political parties have favoured continuing the lockdown.
- India has had 5,274 cases positive to the novel coronavirus (SARS-C-V-2) and 149 deaths, as of April 8, 2020 evening, according to the Union Ministrey of Health and Family Welfare.
- Maharashtra now has 1,018 cases, resulting in 64 deaths — the most in any state or Union territory.
- Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have recorded 13 deaths each.
- Tamil Nadu has 690 cases while Delhi has 576.
- The global tally was nearly at 1.45 million, according to Worldometer.
- The worldwide death toll was at 83,401.
- The proportion of patients critical remained at 5 per cent.
