Antimicrobial resistance or AMR has become a global concern. This is particularly because of the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in animal rearing.
To increase awareness, Delhi-based non-profit Centre for Science and Environment, in collaboration with Down to Earth, has started an eight-part conversation series to build awareness and understand the effects of AMR and effective ways to tackle this problem.
The first conversation is with Manica Balasegaram, executive director, Global Antibiotic Research & Development Partnership or GARDP to understand why there has been a slowdown in the development of new antibiotics as most of the old antibiotics could prove ineffective in the near future.
