Heavy rain during the next four days is likely to trigger flash floods in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, according to an advisory by the Central Water Commission (CWC).
Warning that there is a likelihood of rise in water levels of Brahmaputra and Barak rivers, as well as their tributaries, in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, it said that there is a forecast of heavy to very rainfall across Assam, Meghalaya and Arunchap Pradesh.
CWC said Golaghat and Jorhat districts of Assam, along with 16 other districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand, are in a 'severe flood situation'.
East Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh and Barpeta, Dhubri and Sonitpur districts of Assam are in the 'above normal flood situation' category as the rivers here are either touching or flowing above the warning level.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the districts of West Kameng, Upper Siang and Lohit are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall, on Monday, says the Met department.
Lower Subansiri, West Siang, East Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit and Changlang districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places Tuesday.
The forecast also says Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Sonitpur and Dhemaji districts of Assam are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall, between Monday and Wednesday.
