Lessons in conservation

Assessment of 67,000 species shows 1,200 have moved to more threatened categories on the Red List of Threatened Species maintained by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in the past four decades, while the status of only 201 species has improved. Most species have recovered because of conservation efforts like setting up protected areas
