Solid waste management in Kerala

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on January 24, 2020 directed the Secretary, Urban Development, Kerala to appear before it on February 28, due to the failure of the Kerala government to take tangible action against unscientific dumping of waste.

Dairy farms in residential area

The NGT on January 24 directed that an action taken report be furnished by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam on the illegal operation of dairy farms with no safeguards for disposal of waste in the residential colony of Chiranjiv Vihar in Ghaziabad.

Sponge iron factory spewing pollution

The NGT on January 27 directed the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) to submit a report on a sponge iron factory being run under Neturia Police Station in West Bengal's Purulia district, allegedly polluting air and disposing of waste unscientifically.

Rice mill pollution

The NGT on January 27 disposed of the application filed against a polluting rice mill in Madanpur village, in West Bengal's Birbhum district. This was in view of a report filed by the WBPCB that remedial action has been taken and the mill closed.
