FLOODED WITH PROBLEMS

Come the monsoons, the miseryof annual floods hits Bangladesh this year the countryhad to call out the army to battle its worst floods in over 6years. In mid-July the army moved into the worst-hitGaibandha region, where nearly 200,000 flood-hit victimsare either staying in temporary camps or are marooned.Future tidings are bleak; according to Ainun Nishat, anexpert from the Bangladesh University of Engineering,the situation could worsen if rainfall continued over thenext 2 or 3 weeks.
