Datasonix has introduced a mobile,tape storage product for laptopswhich offers a host of new features.The product, called Pereos, whichuses technology Aeveloped by Sonyfor its digital tape recorder, is thesize of a coffee cup and can store UPto 1.25 gigabytes of data (roughlyequivalent to 870 floppies) onpostage stamp size cartridges(Banking Technology, April 1995).
Pereos has a password protection system and a feature calledFuzzy Find, Making use of fuzzylogic techniques, this allows a userwho is unable to remember the exactname of a file, to enter any of the letters in the file-name the user canremember to assemble a fist of filesfrom which the user can choose.
