A national water policy forBangladesh is on the anvil. This was announced by waterresources minister Abdur Razzak inDhaka recently. The country is all set tolaunch a planning exercise for a Gangesbarrage in Greater Faridpur to provideirrigation to an area of 1.9 millionhectares through an integrated waterresource development programme. Theminister also said that a joint riverscommission will try to find out a solution to sharing of thewaters of the Teesta, Brahmaputra and other rivers.
