Vietnam is gearingup to combat dengue, amosquito-bome fever whichkills thousands of childrenin Asia and more than a million worldwide. Aus Aid,Australia's national aidagency, is helping it in itsendeavour. They are planning to use an organismcalled mesocyclops to get ridof the deadly mosquitoes. ina joint project, Vietnameseand Australian scientists willintroduce mesocyclops inthe most-affected areas andhope that it will feed the larvae without harming drink-ing water supplies. Apartfrom providing financialsupport, Aus Aid is trainingthe Vietnamese medical staffas well.
