Wire to prime minister

On July 11, Oxfam India’s employees tried to give one last hurrah to the dying telegram. Four days before the 163-old mode of communication was put to sleep, the non-profit’s employees converged at the Telegraph Office at Eastern Court in New Delhi to send a telegram to the Prime Minister which states, “August 15, 2012 You prescribed free medicines for all from Red Fort. I am still waiting at the counter.”

Avinash Kumar, Director Policy, Research and Campaigns, Oxfam India said, “The telegram service which was introduced in 1855 has become outmoded but our policies are still primitive. We are not able to secure basic drugs for all.”
