Flash floods and storms ravage Meghalaya: Lives lost, homes destroyed
Districts like Ri Bhoi, East Khasi Hills, and West Garo Hills were among the hardest hit
Heavy rains on May 30-31, 2025, wreaked havoc across Meghalaya, impacting 86 villages in 10 districts. The Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (MSDMA) has confirmed six deaths, including two children struck by lightning in Kentapara and a man who drowned in the Umlew river. Districts like Ri Bhoi, East Khasi Hills, and West Garo Hills were among the hardest hit, with flash floods, landslides, and storm damage displacing thousands.
