A beaver and a drop of water are “heroes” in a new comic strip that recounts their adventures in protecting the environment.
To be published once a week in Honduran newspapers from May, the strip aims at raising environmental awareness among children.
It is part of a project developed by entrepreneur Emilio Larach to combine corporate responsibility with educational and reforestation programmes in Honduras’ Tegucigalpa region.
“The comic strip, The Adventures of Mr. Beaver and Little Water Drop, seeks to contribute to halting the the destruction of the environment and forests, which combined with the shortage of water is wounding the economy and life,” Larach told the Latin American news service Tierramérica.
He said the first few issues of the comic will deal with forests fires, which have destroyed more than 4,000 hectares this year in Honduras.
