Rat hole mining in Meghalaya

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on January 17, 2020 directed the committee appointed to look into unscientific rat hole mining in Meghalaya to submit an action taken report by April 30, 2020.

Forest encroachment  

The NGT on January 16 directed Uttarakhand's principal chief conservator of forest to submit a factual, action taken report about illegal construction activity in the forest area of Hathipaon near Mussoorie without requisite approval under the Forest Act 1980.

Brick kilns of Muzzafarnagar, Shamli and Meerut

The NGT on January 16 directed the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board to conduct carrying capacity study of areas in Muzzafarnagar, Shamli and Meerut in order to determine the number of brick kilns that can be permitted.

Laying of pipeline in Nakti Creek, Gulf of Kutch

The NGT on January 16 adjourned the matter of violation of the condition of the environmental clearance pertaining to work of laying of pipeline in Nakti Creek, Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat.
