The government of Pakistan recently endorsed the setting up of a US $50 million fund dedicated to the cause of the environment. It was approved by the Pakistan Environmental Protection Council at its sixth meeting held recently.
The fund would invest in projects with a substantial impact in terms of pollution abatement, execution of projects deemed eco-friendly, provision of low-cost funds for existing projects to control pollution and provide technical assistance on a commercial basis for capacity building and monitoring of existing and future environment projects.
