The Allahabad High Court has directed inspector-general of police (criminal investigation department) to inquire into the alleged involvement of some police officials in illegal trading of forest woods in collaboration with wood smugglers in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur area. The order was passed by a division bench in response to a letter written to the court by the district secretary of all India anti-corruption committee, Gorakhpur.
