sakhi, the thirteen-month-old Bengal tigress of the Nehru Zoological Park ( nzp ) in Hyderabad was recently killed due to the careless attitude of the zoo authorities. Poachers intruded into the npz with the help of the zoo staff and killed Sakhi. They then skinned her and dumped the carcass into a small pond near Sakhi's enclosure. Sakhi is the victim of the official callousness and failure to develop a foolproof mechanism that would prevent unauthorised entry into the zoo. The investigating agencies could not get any evidence or trace footprints at the scene of the crime as the incidence was reported to the police nearly 24 hours after it happened.
