Awareness on AIDS in India’s worstaffected state is abysmal, so documents the film Are you with me? The 52- minute film, directed by Nilima Mathur and Pramod Mathur, is a poignant reminder of what social ostracism does to AIDS victims and their families in Manipur. A drug addict wants to lead a normal life after becoming aware of his disease, but social fetters push him to the margins. The film is part of a 28- month training programme funded by European Union and the Department For International Development Programme Management Office. The project intends to sensitize radio and television journalists, as well as filmmakers, and to train them to cover health issues especially HIV/AIDS in a more responsible way.
