Natural disasters have left some 147,753 people dead in Bangladesh over the last decade, according to a report published by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society. This figure is five times higher than the previous decade -- some 27,903 people were killed in disasters during 1981-90, while 681 died in 2000 alone.
