Nana Zhao
Nana ZHAO, associate researcher/assistant director of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University/Basel Convention Regional Center for Asia and the Pacific. Her main research areas include environmental management policies and technologies for solid waste and chemicals, and has long been engaged in technical support and negotiation of the implementation of international conventions on solid waste and chemicals. She served as the core negotiator of the Chinese delegation to the <Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal> and the New Plastics instrument, led the revision of the <Technical Guidelines of Environmentally Sound Management of Plastic Wastes> as the representative of the Chinese government, and successively served as a member of the intersessional working group on the formulation and revision of the technical guidelines for the environmentally sound management of waste incineration and landfill, waste tires and electronic waste of the Basel Convention. She is member of the hazardous waste identification expert group in Qinghai, Hebei, Zhejiang and other provinces. She has undertaken or served as a technical leader to carry out more than 40 international cooperation and national, provincial and ministerial projects, published more than 20 papers, and won 5 international and domestic awards.
