The Delhi High Court(HQ recently reserved its order onthe import of zinc and lead ashskimmings after hearing a marathon argument on a petition filedby the Zinc ManufacturersAssociation (ZMA). The HC hadimposed an interim ban on theimport of these two items onApril 22, acting on a petition filedby the Public Interest Legal Supportand Research Centre, which allegedthat these substances were highlytoxic. However, the ZMA said thatthe ban should not be extended asmany international environmentalorganisations had declared them tobe non-hazardous.
