Jayanthi Natarajan resigns as environment minister
Published on

Jayanthi Natarajan on Saturday resigned from the post of minister of state for environment and forests. Speculations are rife that the move may have come as per Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s plan to revamp the Congress ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted her resignation and petroleum and natural gas Minister, Veerappa Moily, has been given additional charge of environment ministry.

Natarajan, a 59-year-old leader from Tamil Nadu, was inducted in the environment ministry two years ago.
