Bangladesh shuts gas stations: Bangladesh has partially shut its natural gas filling stations in Dhaka for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The stations are closed six hours a day and the gas saved is diverted to power plants running on natural gas. This is being done to counter the growing power crisis.

Gas supplies of Bangladesh are severely overburdened, with demand of 2,400 million cubic feet gas per day but supply is just 1,900 million cubic feet. Bangladesh is facing a daily power shortage of 2,000 MW.
