Councillors in a rural town in UK staged a mass resignation after getting tired of a bloggers criticism. Former vice-chairperson Anthony Canvin said 11 of Somerton Town Councils 15 members resigned on November 2. In his Muck&Brass blog, Niall Connolly called them jackasses.

But Connolly rejected the idea that the resignation was a result of his blog. The councillors had for too long ignored the community which they were meant to serve and they cant stand any election, he said.

The council will have to hold elections. In one entry, Conolly wrote that a council pamphlet on voting rights reads more like a Nazi call to arms or an invitation to ethnic cleansing.

One councillor M Canvin, a businessman 61, said, Im not going to tolerate such insult when Im working for the town. Ive had enough and resigned.
