Deconstructing Disaster, the festival featured 10 films. Disaster preparedness, rehabilitation and rights of people affected by disasters were themes of the films on show. Said Ajith Lawrence, the festival's coordinator, "A few of the films were on the recent tsunami, while the rest dealt with issues as diverse as recurring floods in Bihar, droughts in Orissa and the 2001 earthquake in Gujarat".

The films screened included Mangimai Prakasam's Living on the edge, K P Sasi's Voices from a disaster, Satya Sivaraman's Children of tsunami, R Revathy's Outside Mercy and Krishnendu Bose's Harvesting hunger.

The festival will now travel to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu.
