After a long gap of 10 years, India has released the National Family Health Survey 2015-16, though only for 13 states and two Union Territories. The survey, however, provides ample evidence about the deteriorating health of Indians. The number of obese men has doubled in the past decade. The survey, for the first time, provides evidence about the high incidence of hypertension and diabetes. Worse, malnourishment and mortality among children continue to haunt the country, despite an increase in institutional births and improvement in maternal and child healthcare.
