the Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (apfdc) has selected nine herbs and plants for large-scale cultivation.The apfdc is carrying out experimental farming on a few of the chosen herbs like safed musli. Says apfdc managing director S K Das, "Since growing of these herbs requires intense crop management and investment, the corporation has set up three centres for research and development in these herbs."

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government is also planning to give a fillip to medicinal gardens. It has decided to give sops for establishing herbal gardens and provide revenue land on lease to the prospective entrepreneurs.They will also be provided know-how and seeds of medicinal plants by the government.
