Protest by tribals near Kevadia
Union minister of tribal affairs Arjun Munda denied in Lok Sabha March 8, 2021 that some tribal communities of Kevadia Colony near the Statue of Unity in Narmada District in Gujarat are protesting against the forced eviction to make way for hotel and other projects in the area.
Various ground reports since last year had described how aggrieved land owners of the Kevadia and other villagers were protesting the acquisition of their land by the government-owned public limited company Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd.
The company wanted to develop this land around the statue of Vallabhbhai Patel for tourism purposes. The farmers, however, complained that they have not been compensated enough.
Data on Migrant Workers
No loss of lives of migrant workers are reported from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Delhi, Goa, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand, except 17 accidental deaths in Maharashtra, according to information received from the states and Union territories.
Information or data from the remaining states / UTs is being collected / compiled and will be laid on the table of the House, said Santosh Kumar Gangwar, minister of state (independent charge) for labour and employment in Lok Sabha on March 8, 2021.
Working Women
The estimated women worker population ratio on usual status in Bihar is very low, said Gangwar on March 8.
He was quoting from the results of Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted during 2018-19 by National Statistical Office (NSO), Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
According to the survey, in Bihar, the female women worker population is only 4 per cent.
Female literacy rate in Uttar Pradesh
The female literacy rate in Uttar Pradesh is 57.18 per cent compared to the national average of female literacy rate of 64.63 per cent and ranks 31st (last) in the country according to Census 2011, Ramesh Pokhriyal, minister of education, told in Lok sabha today.
Various factors such as poverty, gender and social inequities are impeding female literacy in the country, he added.
Violation of FRA in Mining Project
No violation of Forest Rights Act, 2006 has been observed at the ongoing mining projects at Hasdeo Arand Forests in Chattisgarh, Munda told Lok Sabha on March 8, 2021.
He had information from the state government, who, according to the Forest Rights Act, 2006, is responsible for implementation of various provisions of the Act.
