Court has extended the time for setting up effluent treatment plants in the industrial estates of Vatwa, Naroda and Odhav in the outskirts of Ahmedabad till July 31. The extension was, however, applicable to only those industries which had paid Rs 2 per litre of effluent discharged towards the cost of constructing a pipeline. The ruling was given on a petition filed by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The court also directed the state government, its agencies and several industrial unions to provide some specific details on the schemes and plans to check and monitor pollution.
