Australia is emitting more pollutants than ever, reveals the government's 1999 National Greenhouse Gas Inventory. Its emissions grew 1.1 per cent from 1998 levels and are now 17.4 per cent over 1990 levels -- more than double its eight per cent target under the Kyoto Protocol.
